With Heartstrings Osteopathy, you can expect an intelligent, compassionate, and effective approach to osteopathic care, designed to help you achieve your health and wellness goals.
— Pria Schwall-Kearney, Osteopath
Having grown up in the Dandenong Ranges, I qualified as an osteopath in 2011 and have been fortunate to treat in some wonderful clinics across Melbourne and regional Victoria before opening Heartstrings Osteo in Boronia.

I am passionate about supporting musicians to engage fully with their bodies in order to prevent and recover fully from injuries, but also to open up new spaces in exploring their practice.
I’m also an enthusiastic generalist and enjoy treating a broad spectrum of patients through the full age spectrum experiencing various things that life throws up, including:

> women raising families,
> pregnancy and postpartum osteopathic care
> headaches/migraines
> injuries
> repetitive strain injuries
I find it deeply meaningful providing osteopathic support to people experiencing stressful times.

My Approach

As an osteopath, I always start with a comprehensive history and biomechanical analysis to understand and diagnose where the body’s tissues are holding stress/tension, and crucially, what patterns (whether physical, behavioural, environmental or emotional) are holding these tension points in place.

I then utilise a variety of therapeutic techniques such as stretching, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, articulation and mobilisation that are tailored to each client's individual needs and circumstances.

I also offer focused treatments such as osteopathy in the cranial field, which aim to address the subtle movements of the body to promote physical and emotional balance.
My music teaching background means I have a strong focus on education, working with clients to increase their understanding of their own body and health. Knowledge is power!
If you’re ready to work with your body instead of against it, I’d love to support you. Whether you’re navigating the physical demands of performing, recovering from strain or injury, or simply wanting to feel more grounded in your everyday movement, osteopathic care can help you reconnect with ease and confidence. Together we’ll tune into what your body is asking for and create space for genuine change — not just symptom relief.

Osteopathy for Musicians

My mission at Heartstrings Osteo is to support musicians to deepen the connection between their physical bodies and their creative practice - both to reduce the risk of /recover from injuries but also to open up new avenues for greater ease in playing, less blocked/freer creative expression and increased professional resilience.

Musicians face unique demands — we are small muscle athletes! On top of the obvious physical demands of actually playing our instruments, there are so many more demands placed on the performing musician...
> touring/travel
> performance stress/anxiety
> computer admin
> whacky hours
> questionable travelling food choices
These factors and as well as anatomy, genetics etc combine to form unique stress and strain patterns for each musician which can take a toll on the body over time. Some musicians notice low level fatigue or pain, with symptoms flaring after intense performance times, whilst others experience little discomfort and then develop a more severe injury or creative block seemingly out of nowhere. Both are common patterns.

My Approach for Musicians

My Approach for Musicians

I love working with musicians using osteopathic care to unwind some of these strain patterns. I utilise a detailed history, observation of a player’s biomechanics (bring your instrument!) as well general breathing, posture and movement to arrive at a specific functional understanding of what’s happening in the tissues.

I then use a combination of gentle hands on techniques to decrease stress and strain, improve alignment, mobility, and circulation, as well as movement education and a thorough exploration of practice techniques.
Whether you're recovering from injury or striving for more fluid and confident performance, these approaches work in harmony to support your long-term health, creativity, and resilience as a musician. When you’re ready, book a session and let’s start building comfort, balance and performance from the inside out.
